The consequences of a 2nd offense DUI in New Jersey:
- Between 48 hours and 90 days of incarceration
- A 2-year driver’s license suspension
- A fine between $500 and $1,500 and an MVC surcharge of $1,000 for 3 years
- Use of the ignition interlock device for 1 to 3 years
- 30 days of community service
A 3rd or subsequent offense DUI charge:
- At least 180 days in jail
- 10-year driver’s license suspension
- Use of the ignition interlock device for up to 3 years
- A $1,000 fine and a $1,000 surcharge every year for three years
- Loss of driver’s license for 10 years
